In a written statement made by the Vuhan Municipal Health Commission, a 61-year-old man who was hospitalized with respiratory failure and severe pneumonia died on 9 January.
SEEN IN 41 PEOPLE, 7 PEOPLE’S SITUATION HEAVY
In the statement, it was noted that this was the first death case caused by the infectious virus seen in 41 people in the city since the beginning of the year.
The commission shared that the health status of 7 more patients is critical and the rest are stable, and at least two people were discharged from hospitals.
The outbreak in Wuhan raises concern in the country, as it reminds of the SARS outbreak that caused the deaths of hundreds of people in 2002 and 2003.
Apart from Vuhan, the virus was also found in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea. In cases that occur outside of China, the fact that patients have traveled to Wuhan strengthens the probability of an epidemic.
